I thought I would start today with my next exhibition. Well, not just me, but quite a few others! I belong to the United Society of Artists and our annual show comes up soon and have been having difficulty deciding what to put in. I am thinking of the cost of cabs, and so will use my free travel pass which means I can only take what I can carry. So, decided on two colourful canvasses of India. They depict a woman selling flowers and a man cooking chapattis.
The exhibition opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Southwark Steet, London EC1 iRU on Tuesday 17th April and runs to Saturday 21st. 11am-6pm. All welcome to the preview.
Putting your paintings in an exhibition is a decision not easily made. You want to sell (we all have to live) but it is akin to selling your children. You create and nuture that work of art, and look at it when finished in awe. Did I really do that? It hangs on the wall and you see it every day. It becomes part of the house. Do I really want to see it go?
